CYCLONES
Cyclones can be the most intense storms on Earth. A cyclone is a system of winds rotating counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere around a low pressure center. The swirling air rises and cools, creating clouds and precipitation.
A DEEP BRIEF ON CYCLONES
TYPES OF CYCLONES
There are two types of cyclones: middle latitude (mid-latitude) cyclones and tropical cyclones. Mid-latitude cyclones are the main cause of winter storms in the middle latitudes.
DIFFERENT TERMINOLOGIES
the North Atlantic Ocean and the eastern and central North Pacific Ocean, it is called "hurricane"
In the western North Pacific, it is called "typhoon"
In the southwest Indian Ocean, it is called “tropical cyclone”
STORM SURGE
A storm surge is a rise above the normal water level along a shore resulting from strong onshore winds and/or reduced atmospheric pressure. Storm surges accompany a tropical cyclone as it comes ashore.
